Colonial Era

Colonial Era During the 2016 Democratic National Convention, a line that many of the speakers included in their speeches was, “There is more that unites America than divides it.” While it would be fun to argue whether or not this statement is true today, for this paper you must argue whether or not it was true during the Colonial Era (1607-1776). A complete answer should include five elements: ● a brief introduction ● a clear thesis statement ● evidence to support your thesis statement (The evidence you present must include at least 3 specific facts, such as statistics, anecdotes, or descriptions from a primary source. Your research must be documented through internal citations, as well as an annotated works cited page. ) ● counterarguments, and rebuttals to these counterarguments ● a conclusion Presentation requirements : typewritten in Times New Roman, 12 point font; margins of between .5 and .75 inches; double-spaced; left aligned (instead of centered) text; must have a proper heading (full name, teacher name, course name, date); no extra spaces between paragraphs; properly stapled; and spell checked Writing notes : Your writing will directly affect your grade. The grammar focuses will be avoiding fragments and run-ons, the correct use of affect/effect, lead/led, than/then, and their/there/they’re, and the use of formal (3r d person) language only. All mistakes in these areas will lead to a one point deduction. In addition, the overall quality of writing will be considered in determining the grade of the essay. The final paper should be roughly 4-5 pages long (which means 5-6 paragraphs in total)
