Begin with a discussion of relevant crime data. First, choose one of the four violent Uniform Crime Report (UCR) index one crimes (murder, rape, robbery or assault). Then present UCR data regarding national and state crime rates, offender characteristics, and geographical rates. Finally present data about the relationship between the victim and the offender; these data can come from the UCR or the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). Use the most recent UCR and/or NCVS data. Use the following format: 1. Begin with an introduction. State the purpose of the paper in about one paragraph. 2. Provide the definition of the crime, based upon UCR Program definitions. 3. Using UCR data, discuss the rate at which the crime occurs nationally and in the State of CT. 4. Discuss offender characteristics – individual demographics (race, age, and gender). 5. Discuss geographical trends (regions). 6. Using either UCR or NCVS data, discuss the relationship between offender and victim.
