Critical Incident Analysis

  Assessment Details In this essay, students are required to: • Briefly describe a Critical Incident which they have observed or experienced in a social work or social care practice setting where issues of diversity, ethics and values were evident. • Using a specific critical incident analysis tool/framework, Identify, explain and analyse how the issues of diversity, ethics and values may have impacted on the service user. • Show how they addressed ethical issues and illustrate an understanding of individuals’ identity, diversity and professional values. Drawing on their learning from the course and with reference to specific ethical frameworks, discuss the way in which social workers’ personal and professional values, attitudes and beliefs can impact how social workers may work with people in vulnerable circumstances. • Relating to the critical incident and knowledge gained within the course; critically consider some strategies which enable service users and social workers to challenge discrimination and adversity. Note1: All references used in coursework must abide by the University’s Referencing Style; i.e. Harvard Style. A referencing guide is also provided in the Moodle site (under this course). Note3: Please use pseudonyms to discuss issues surrounding your case and NOT refer to them as this person, the mother, the father, mum, dad etc. Your work must be: • Word processed / typed, • Size 12 font e.g. Times New Roman or Arial, • Double line spaced, • Page numbered from the title page, • Presented with your student identification number on every page, • Reference list (Harvard Style) – single line spacing.
