Assignment specifics:
Write a 2 - 3 page paper that summarizes, analyzes and suggests resolutions for a cultural conflict in your own country.
The paper should be organized as follows:
• An introductory paragraph that summarizes the conflict and introduces your thesis
o The who, where and what (including any necessary historical background) in your own words
o A thesis statement at the end of the paragraph that identifies what you believe to be the cultural reasons for the conflict, i.e., one or more of Hofstede’s five dimensions of culture, high context vs. low context cultures, stereotypes, differing worldviews, etc.
• As many body paragraphs as is necessary to develop and explain the cultural reasons identified in the thesis statement
o Each body paragraph should:
? Begin with a topic sentence that clearly states one cultural reason for the conflict.
? Include a definition of the cultural reason in your own words (For example, if you think that high/low power distance is one reason for the conflict, you need to explain what high/low power distance means according to Hofstede.).
? Explain how this cultural reason applies to the cultural conflict in your country.
• One paragraph that describes what has been done so far to resolve the conflict and your response to those attempts at resolution. Do you think that the efforts to resolve the conflict have been successful? Why or why not?
• One or two paragraphs that state and explain your suggestions for a resolution of the conflict and why these suggestions offer the best hope for the resolution of the conflict
• A conclusion paragraph that summarizes the main points of your essay and ends with recommendations, predictions, a quote for further thought, etc.
