Digestion Investigation Task

The three fossils shown on the left were recently found by scientists. Scientists are able to reach conclusions about organisms based on their features. The structure of teeth and skulls can provide us with a lot of information about an organism’s diet, digestive system and lifestyle. Your task is to use scientific reasoning to suggest the diet and digestive system structure of each fossilised skull. Use the following approach: · PLAN - How could you go about determining the organism’s diet given that the only clue you have is its skull? · RESEARCH & JUSTIFY - Draw conclusions about the organisms diet. Use research as evidence to support your claims. · EXTEND - Identify what these findings might suggest about the rest of the organisms digestive systems? Use research as evidence to support your claims. YOU WILL HAVE 3 PERIODS OF CLASS TIME TO RESEARCH THIS TASK Project guidelines: · This is an individual task · You can chose how you present this information o Check the marking rubric as a guide · You may include diagrams and explanations as you go · Be sure to build your answer to demonstrate what you have learnt and understand about the topic · Include a glossary of key terms with full explanations
