Oftentimes in literature an author will create characters and relationships in order to contrast the main character or the main character's relationship with other people, much the same way a foil works in a piece of literature. In Night, Wiesel mentions several father and son relationships. In a well written essay, discuss the nature of the relationship between Eliezer and his father and how it changes over the course of the novel by contrasting it with the other father/son relationships in the memoir. Do not merely summarize the plot. Often in literature a character will undergo a spiritual journey that coincides with the narration of the plot. In Night, identify a spiritual reassessment or journey and explain its significance to the work as a whole. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced the Jews to little more than "things" which were a nuisance to them. Identify three specific examples of events that occurred which dehumanized Eliezer, his fathe, or his fellow Jews. Compare and contrast dehumanization in Night, with current forms of dehumanization in our society today.
