Evidence-based Practice

Order Description EBP paper guidelines: Purpose: This assignment is designed to allow students to identify a clinically relevant problem, formulate a PICO question, search the literature to find the best evidence to address the problem, synthesis the evidence, and explain how this intervention can be applied in practice. 1.) Identify a specific problem relevant to nursing: The paper should contain an introductory description of the topic/problem explaining why it is significant to nursing and healthcare. Identify the scope of the problem by including, if possible, the incidence, prevalence, and the cost of the problem to society. Include the PICO question in this section. 2.) Search method: Conduct a search of the literature to find a minimum of five studies: These studies should demonstrate effectiveness of an intervention to resolve the problem within a specific population. The literature search will be described and include how you conducted the literature search: which databases did you search, which search words did you use, what limits did you use, how many articles resulted in your search, how many of these did you review. If you searched an evidence-based site, such as Cochrane, include that information. For example you might write, “A literature search was completed using Cohrane Collaboration, InfoPOEMS, Medline, CINAHL and UptoDate. When searching Medline and CINAHL evidence-based filters were used. Inclusion criteria were years 2009 to 2014, English language, and research article. Key search words were “adolescent,” “menstruation,” and “education.” Include the final number of articles reviewed. Include any EB guidelines, e.g. American Heart Association. Ideally, you want articles within the last 5 years, but older articles may be necessary. 3.) Article appraisals: Each research article will be summarized and appraised including the type of study (method and design) (qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, quasi-experimental), level of evidence, sample, findings, strength of study, and limitation of study. You should have a minimum of 5 articles. 4.) Synthesis: After discussing individual studies synthesize the research (As a whole what does it say? What’s missing {gaps}?) 5.)Clinical implications/conclusion: Explain how the intervention can be applied in clinical practice and identify the setting and specific population. 6.) It must be double-spaced, and in APA format. Please use the guidelines to organize your paper. Correctly cite! 7.) Submit through TurnItIn Rubric for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) Paper: 15 points - Identify a specific problem: -The problem is introduced and its relevance to nursing is explained. -Scope of problem (incidence, prevalence, cost) -PICO question 10 points - Search method: -Includes which databases did searched, key search words, limits (did not include Full Text only), inclusion criteria, total articles in search result, how many were reviewed 30 points - Appraisal of articles: -Appraisal of articles include: type of study (method and design) (qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, quasi-experimental), level of evidence, sample, findings, strength of study, and limitation of study. Included at least 5 articles. 20 points - Synthesis of literature: -Presents a synthesis of research findings from all studies which were appraised including as a whole what does it say? What’s missing {gaps}? -Based on the synthesis, state overall strength of evidence for instituting the intervention as a practice change with the specific population in the specific setting 15 points - Clinical Implications/conclusion: -Explain how the intervention can be applied in clinical practice? -What practice setting and which specific population? 10 points - Format & Style: -APA 6th ed. Format including headings, references, typed, double-spaced, 1” margins -Correct citations -Writing style, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling My original PICO question was: In pediatric patients, how effective is oral sucrose or "sweet-tasting solutions" towards providing procedural pain relief as compared to those who do not receive oral sucrose or "sweet-tasting solutions?" -Now my instructor advised that I tailor down the question to a more specific popluation within that of pediatrics. So depending on the research that you find, you can go with either neonates or infants. Also, there needs to be at least 5 research articles used for this paper. She would like them to be most recent within the past 5 years, but will allow for some leeway if necessary (the paper just must reflect that more current research is needed upon the topic). Also, the research articles should be that of the highest level of evidence as possible. Meaning that of randomized clinical trials, etc. Currently 1 writers are viewing this order Additional Files Owner Type Name Size Plagiarism Upload date Client Additional file How_to_S...pptx 0.08 Mb None 01:49 04 Apr 2016 Client Additional file Rubric_f...docx 0.02 Mb None 01:49 04 Apr 2016 Client Additional file Synthesi...docx 0.13 Mb None 01:49 04 Apr 2016 Client Additional file EBP_pape...docx 0.02 Mb None 01:48 04 Apr 2016 Client Additional file Advanced...docx 0.04 Mb None 01:46 04 Apr 2016 Request order Request deadline extension till Choose your reason Date 10/04/2016 ...
