This is a 1,500-2000 word academic essay in which the student applies one of the methodologies of film analysis studied in Bloc 2 and Bloc 3 to a film selected from a list provided by the tutor. Films screened in the unit may be referenced as secondary texts for the purpose of comparison. In consultation with tutor, students develop a critical argument about one or more themes/issues derived from the content of lectures, screenings, readings, and discussions in the respective weeks. This critical argument is to be demonstrated and illustrated through an analysis of the chosen film and articulated through the selected methodology. Students must observe referencing conventions strictly by adhering to APA 6th consistently and correctly, including a list of text-based and visual references at the end. The essay is to be submitted via Turnitin by the dealine. Note that this assignment will have only one FINAL submission point. Late submissions are allowed as part of the late assessment policy.
