Ford Pinto (Engineering Ethics)

  During development and initial production, the Ford Pinto met the relevant technical standard governing vehicle safety in rear-end collision; however, it is argued that the engineers responsible for the design of the subcompact did not fulfill their duty of care. Can we consistently and simultaneously endorse these two claims? With reference to our contemporary understanding of professional ethics, explain why/why not.
