1. Complete the assessment “What Are Your Cancer Risks?” on page 673-674 in the Student Workbook pages at the end of the textbook. Do your cancer risks match your self-perception of your risks? Did the self-assessment identify cancer risks of which you were unaware? After reading this chapter, develop a list of things you could do to reduce your cancer risks. If you do not feel comfortable sharing your information, you may do this for someone you know or a fictitious person (i.e. TV show character).

2. Many strains of bacteria are becoming resistant to the antibiotics used to treat them. One reason for this is that people pressure their healthcare providers for antibiotics when they do not have bacterial illnesses. Also, some people stop taking antibiotics before their physician says they should. Both these situations provide an opportunity for resistant strains of bacteria to develop and replicate. Do you practice either of these behaviors? If so, why? What have you learned in this chapter that may cause you to change those behaviors?
