Diverse Family and Community Characteristics
1. Rationale for selecting the family
a. A rationale for why they chose this family( Family is from Somalia)
b. An explanation of the ways they think the families experiences are different from their own (The family is Muslim and I am Catholic-Hispanic)
c. What they have observed about how society views the child and family (either based on race, ethnicity, family structure, sexual orientation, religion (The family has strong core values based on the Muslim religion, where the woman need to cover her head and the boy needs to be a good provider)
d. An honest attempt to identify and describe any assumptions; be careful about passing judgement; they have about this family.(Family is Homeless and mother has 5 children , mother suffers from depression and she is very overwhelmed with the entire situation, mother is a single mother trying to provide for all the children)
2. Introducing themselves; Candidates will find a way to determine the common ground between themselves and the family they selected as these help with initial introductions. They will describe the introduction and the process they will use to introduce themselves to the family.
Common ground for this family and my background is that I am also from another country and I understand how difficult it could be to adapt to a new culture, new ideas and also feel that sometimes we may be discriminated against because of many things including color; race and ethnicity.
3. Question to assist in learning about the child; Candidates will develop a set of questions that they will use to help them learn more about the child in terms of the child’s likes, dislikes. Interests, and experiences.( please help with the questions)

Questions to assist in learning about the parents and family; Candidates will develop a set of questions to ask during the home visit to begin to understand the parents; goals for themselves as well as their children. They will use the following questions to guide them. (please help with questions)
