SPANISH PROYECTO: LA EXPLORACIÓN DE CARRERAS The sky is the limit! Without worrying about the realities of life like money or school grades, what career would you like to have in the future? OBJETIVOS ? Examine careers options to determine a career goal and plan of action. ? Express desired career choices in Spanish. Deciding on a Career This project will help you to think about what career may be a good choice for you and what steps you will need to follow in order to pursue your choice as a career. There are several steps that you will follow, so there is printable document below to guide you. Remember, the purpose of this project is to help you to explore your options, so spend some time brainstorming before you get started, and have fun! The printable document is on the next page on deciding on a career. Deciding on a Career I. What is your ideal career? Decide what career you'll explore. First, make a list of five possible career choices and then put them in order of preference. The first career on your list will be the one you'll explore. II. Where will you find the information? Look for the information in at least three different sources to answer the following questions. Notice that question 5 is a question you'll make up. Take good notes. Be sure to make a list of the Web sites you visit, any other sources you check, and where you found the information you're going to use. Hand this list into your teacher. 1. What are the educational requirements? 2. What are the daily activities and necessary skills? 3. How much money would you earn annually? 4. Will there be jobs in the future for this career? 5. Student: Make up a question about your ideal career. III. How will you present the information? Use your creativity to make the presentation interesting and attractive, but also make it well organized with a lot of up-to-date facts. Ideas: Make a big poster with pictures, drawings, graphs, etc., or dress up like someone in the profession. IV. How will you prepare for the presentation? It would be a good idea to practice the presentation several times at home. It's best to maintain eye contact with the audience instead of reading from a paper. Practice good pronunciation and posture. V. Why did you decide on this career? At the end of the presentation use two or three future or conditional tense verbs, or a combination of both, to explain to your classmates why this is your ideal career. Look at the following two examples: Me gustaría ser veterinario porque me interesan los animales. ? I'd like to be a veterinarian because I'm interested in animals. Algún día yo seré piloto, porque me fascinaría volar los aviones. ? Someday, I'll be a pilot because flying airplanes fascinates me.
