For the research paper it cannot be written in the first person point of view. Do not use "I agree or disagree", and no personal experiences.
"we" as a society can be used.
Words such as patients and doctors is preferred for usage.
For the citations, the author's last name or the title of document if the source has no author's name, the date of the article published should be used only the first time mentioning the document. (APA) Also, use the paragraph number along with the author's name for reference.
For the introductory section, it should be 4-6 paragraphs. In the introductory section the background information and context for the reader should be provided.
History should be given providing a sense of past verses present. Statistics and demographics to understand the prevalence. Define key terms. Mention people/ person who made contributions or discoveries. Provide any laws that have been passed, turning points, and events (Key events). NO THESIS IN THE INTRODUCTORY SECTION!!
The second paragraph is a transitional paragraph. It should be around two to three sentences. Only the research question and thesis should be in the second paragraph.
Some examples to write the thesis are:
research shows... OR according to research... OR research suggests/ demonstrates... OR experts claim...
save strongest point for last!
The body should be 4-8 paragraphs. It should state the main ideas.
The last paragraph is the conclusion; restate thesis and main ideas.
As part of APA format, this paper should and must include:
1) Title Page
2) The paper
3) Reference List
