The first writing assignment requires you to use your sociological imagination to analyze your life by placing your personal experiences in larger historical, cultural and social contexts. You will need to apply concepts and theoretical perspectives that are discussed in class. For example, in your autobiography, you may discuss how your social class has influenced your life chances, and how your gender identity is socialized through daily social interaction.
