Sociology

The following five factors contribute to racism: divisiveness between different cultural and ethnic communities; persistent lack of trust; the fact that many people never really communicate with one another; the need to bring different voices into school curricula (including college); and the need to learn respect for people from different backgrounds. Several well-known national organizations provide information for learning about working to reduce racism. Three such agencies are the Anti-Defamation League of B′nai B′rith (http://www.adl.org/), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP (http://www.naacp.org/), and the National Council of La Raza (http://nclr.org/). Examine the websites of these associations to learn their goals and what programs they support and strategies they use to encourage inclusion and acceptance, raise consciousness, and foster self-awareness for individuals. Review the histories of the organizations and the current issues or subjects featured in the websites. Write a one-to-two page APA style paper (at about 300-600 words, double-spaced) in which you describe how secondary groups (large organizations) are working to promote social (racial/ethnic) harmony in the United States
