1. The world’s major internationally connected metropolitan areas (‘global cities’) are preferred locations for multinational firms’ global and regional headquarters. The multinational firms’ location choice of headquarter is critical to the success of their internationalisation endeavour.
1) Using the institutional theory to analyse why multinational firms prefer global cities as their regional headquarters (RHQ) and what are the benefits associated with locating in the global cities.
2) Choose a foreign multinational firm with a global or regional headquarter in London and assess whether this company’s sustainability initiatives are aligned with their own global CSR agendas or tailored to local idiosyncrasies.
