Order Description Instructions: write about the issue to the best of your ability and in your own words within 3 pages per essay. **You do not need to provide a reference page. However, if you take anything word-for word then you must use quotation marks.** **Leave out any personal views you have about the theory or issue.** **You cannot use any sources outside of the class reading material for the final exam** The first 3 page will be on Functionalism and Dualism 1. Choose a theory of mind which you believe to be correct or wish to defend. Describe and defend that theory of mind. Describe two theories in Philosophy of Mind Functionalism and Dualism 1. A sentence which clearly states which theory of mind you will be describing and defending. 2. A list of the reasons why you believe that theory of mind is the correct one. These reasons should be propositional in form. The second 3 pages will be on Kant ethics and Virtues Ethics Choose two Ethical Theory which you believe to be correct or wish to defend. Describe and defend that ethical theory. Kant ethics and Virtue Ethics 1. Clearly state and defend an ethical position. 2. Recognize the importance of having an ethical theory. 3. Recognize how difficult it is to defend an ethical theory. 4. Recognize ethical commitments. 5. Recognize and address objections to an ethical view. 6. Learn how to construct valid arguments. For both topic (1) Reminder, you want to apply the concepts rationality, fallibility, and empathy.
