Paper details: Weighting: 50% ( 2500 words ±10% ) REFLECTIVE ESSAY write a reflective essay about significant milestones, knowledge and/or understanding you have gained about your cancer nursing practice and/or cancer care in Australia. Discuss how you evaluate these learning experiences and how they will influence your own cancer nursing practice or future cancer care. Choose two or three learning experiences that have been particularly significant to you. Your reflective essay needs to be a self-assessment, evaluating your own knowledge, skills and attitudes related to particularly significant experiences that you have identified from your diary. You can use a model for reflection such as those offered by Gibbs, Johns or Driscoll to help in structuring your reflective essay. To help you reflect we suggest that you think about the following: • how your values, attitudes and philosophies were affected by your learning • include your frustrations, difficulties, disappointments, successes and celebrations • the process you went through to achieve competence in the EdCaN competency standards for a specialist cancer nurse • reflect on your current clinical practice in relation to your learning experience(s) including how/what/why your clinical practices might have changed • how will you integrate this new knowledge into future clinical practice • any future learning needs which you have identified as a result of your reflection When you identify knowledge and skills that you have gained align them to the EdCaN performance criteria, competence and domain and attach the record of alignment as an appendix to your submission. This record does not require many words, for example, identified skill/knowledge gained = 1.2.3 which indicates Domain 1, Competence 2, Performance criteria 3 (EdCaN 2009 Specialist cancer nurse competencies).
