In today’s 21 century with more women in the workforce and even more that are in college, the pipeline of the future women leaders are still alarmingly. With this research it will review this topic to examine the issue or cause associated with the lack of women leading fortune 500 companies and how we can examine a solution. Why solve or study the problem, issue, or situation? The research will open up more opportunities for women and help move them in more CEO and management positions in fortune 500 companies. Research Question/Focus: What is holding women back from running fortune 500 companies? What is the root cause of this problem? What can be done to see more future women leaders? Why are there so few women CEO and managers of fortune 500 companies? According to Pew Research Center survey majority of Americans, women are every bit as capable of being good leaders as men. The same can be said of their ability to dominate the corporate boardroom. Most Americans find women indistinguishable from men on key leadership traits such as intelligence and capacity for innovation, with many saying they’re stronger than men in terms of being compassionate and organized leaders. In today’s 21 century with more women in the workforce and even more that are in college, the pipeline of the future women leaders are still alarmingly. On the corporate front, 26 women now lead as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies; that’s up from zero in 1995. The female CEOs are only 5% of all Fortune 500 CEOs. According to Pew, the problem is that women still have to do more than men to prove themselves. This finding suggests a troubling assumption that we still don’t expect women to be able to do what men can do. We allow that it’s possible, but our baseline expectations are that men are more capable. This puts women in the position of Having to go above and beyond the standards to which men are held in order to demonstrate their competence. least 15 slides .
